Unfortunately, we are in a global climate disaster, so looking for new heating options which are less harmful to the environment is a priority! This blog aims to inform you of these new options.
Future Homes Standard of Heating Systems
The UK government intends to implement a new Future Homes Standard in 2025, which would require that all newly built homes built after that time use low-carbon heating alternatives to gas boilers. Although there has been considerable uncertainty over whether these dates will alter, surveys still indicate that 2025 is the most likely year.
The Future Homes Standard intends to ensure that new buildings emit up to 80% less CO2 than those constructed now. This amounts to a significant change for the heating business, although it only applies to newly constructed homes.
Hydrogen Commercial Boilers
Another suggestion for how to reduce the number of CO2 emissions created in the UK is the usage of carbon-free hydrogen, which is delivered through a modified gas network.
In the future of heating, new designs of boilers compatible with hydrogen or even current gas boilers modified to use carbon-free hydrogen could be crucial. Existing boilers’ capacity to burn 20% hydrogen and 80% gas, which may not make a significant enough shift to meet carbon-emission objectives, is one potential problem. Another problem is existing heating engineers may not be trained to fit hydrogen boilers and will require additional training which may take a long period of time.
Heating Pumps
Heat pumps take advantage of the environment’s free resources. They absorb heat from the earth’s strata, the air, or the groundwater. If a large and constant heating demand is not required, all heat pumps are highly energy-efficient. The best way to satisfy these needs is to construct new, well-insulated structures. A better alternative to radiators is underfloor heating or a comparable type of panel heating. When used in conjunction with photovoltaics, heat pumps nearly never require expensive extra energy. This is advantageous for the budget as well as the environment. In the best-case scenario, homeowners even receive a system that is self-sufficient for heating and hot water. A heat pump is unquestionably one of the heating methods of the future, depending on the area.
This heating method is particularly appealing since it is free of fossil fuels and independent of them. A self-sufficient, free, and environmentally friendly energy source is feasible when combined with a solar system, especially in new structures. One of the three heat pump variations may prove to be the heating system of the future depending on the regional circumstances and the surroundings of the home.
